Many recognize Dr. Mugiishi as the 7-time Boys’ Basketball State Champion Basketball Coach for Iolani School or the Producer of the budding Broadway-bound musical “Allegiance”, but for Hawaii’s patients, it’s his surgical skill that counts.  Fortunately, he excels as a surgeon, as evidenced by his annual recognition in “Best Doctors in America” since 2004, “Top 100 Doctors in Hawaii” since 2004, and “America’s Top Surgeons” since 2006.  Dr. Mugiishi also teaches and influences other physicians as a well-respected member of our community.  He currently holds a variety of key positions, including Director of Surgical Education for the University of Hawaii – John A. Burns School of Medicine, Associate Medical Director of Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA), and Medical Director of Skai Ventures, Cellular Bioengineering Inc. and Endoscopy Institute of Hawaii.
